Dr. Elizabeth Dimovski's "Graham Vicars Scholarships" Recipients
Dr. Dimovski and team would like to congratulate the recipients of Dr. Elizabeth Dimovski's "Graham Vicars Scholarships." Graham Vicars was one of our awesome patients. It was always a great pleasure having him come into the office as he always carried a smile that put a smile on our faces. In his memory there were eight scholarships given away (two $500.00 and six $100.00.) The scholarships were given away at a small reception held on December 20th, for the Vicars family, the recipients, their family and our team.
It was a great pleasure having you all there, spending time with each and every one of you and hearing stories of your successes and your future plans. We are also glad that you enjoyed our entertainer, Magician Brandon David, as I am sure you are still sking "How did he do that? :)"

Single Tooth Implant done by Dr. Braganza and Dr. Dimovski - Creating Unforgettable Smiles
One of the best way to replace a missing tooth is by placing an implant. A dental implant is made mostly of titanium metal and it acts as an artificial root. It is placed in the jaw bone and an artificial replacement tooth is attached to the implant. Especially in the aesthetic area (front teeth), placing an implant is usually the treatment of choice. Most front teeth are lost due to severe fractures, trauma, avulsed teeth in accidents or large cavities.
The implant (part in the bone), in the photo, was placed by our periodontist (dental specialist) and the crown (tooth part that is visible) by our dentist. The patient is very pleased with the outcome.

Dental Programs For Children in Need of Dental Treatment

Did you know that good oral health is very important for a child's overall health, however, for some, dental treatment is not affordable? Ontario offers two dental programs for children 17 and under that do not have access to dental coverage. If eligible, children are covered under these programs at no cost. The two programs are Healthy Smiles and CINOT (Children In Need Of Treatment).
If you know a child under the age of 17 that may be in need of dental treatment be sure to contact the local Public Health Unit in your area for more information. You may also contact our dental professionals for more information.

Most adults and some teens would feel uncomfortable wearing braces. Invisalign is virtually undetectable when worn. Therefore the patient can smile with confidence while their teeth are being straightened. These aligners gradually move teeth (or align teeth) into their correct position. Approximately every 2 weeks you place new aligners and these are worn for 22 out of 24 hours daily. They are removable for eating, brushing and flossing, dental cleanings or restorations. This makes it easy taking care of your oral health during treatment.

Although really hard, as all the applications were amazing, the Vicars Family has chosen the two applicants that will be receiving the Graham Vicars Scholarship of $500.00 each. We will also be giving 6 other scholarships of $100.00 each. In honour of the Vicars family and the students receiving the scholarships we will be holding a small reception on Friday, December 20th. Please be sure to check your emails for details.

SPACE MAINTAINERS

A space maintainer is a fixed or removable appliance which is used to hold the space of a baby tooth which has been removed early. The cause of the early loss may be due to natural causes or extracted due to extensive dental decay. It is important to keep the space clear for the adult tooth to erupt properly, if not, other teeth may shift into the spot and future orthodontic treatment may be needed. It is important to consult with a dental professional to determine if a space maintainer will be necessary and if one is placed on the child’s dentition how to properly clean and care for it.
