Gingivitis, which is an early stage of gum disease, can be easily prevented by visiting your dentist regularly during your pregnancy. Your dentist or dental hygienist may recommend more frequent professional dental cleanings during the second or early third trimester to help reduce the chance of developing gingivitis. If you are pregnant be sure to tell your dentist or your dental hygienist.
