Our mouth is the gateway to a healthy body! Food for your teeth!

Food and your teeth, Brampton, Dentists, Dentistry, Healthy Teeth, Healthy Snacks, Kids Dentist in Brampton, Dental Office Brampton,
Just like our body our teeth need vitamins and minerals to stay strong and healthy. For proper development and strength of our teeth, babies, children, adults and seniors need lots of:

* calcium (e.g. yogurt, milk, some cheese, milk shakes, eggnog)
* phosphorous (e.g. egg, beef, chicken, turkey, halibut, bread)
* vitamin A (e.g. liver, pumpkin, carrots, sweet potato, mango, spinach, broccoli)
* vitamin C (e.g. citrus fruits, cantaloupe, strawberries, tomatoes, cabbage)
* vitamin D (e.g. trout, mackerel, salmon, tuna, egg yolk, milk)
* fluoride

Calcium (with help from phosphorous and Vitamin D) is the main component of teeth and bones. It’s what keeps them strong. But we can’t forget about vitamin A because it’s necessary for the formation of tooth enamel or vitamin C which is essential for healthy gums.

Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay. In children, it works with calcium and phosphorous to help strengthen enamel, and in older adults, it helps restore and harden enamel. Ontario Dental Association

Teeth Grinding Causes and Solutions

Top Dentists in Brampton, Family Dentist, Kids Dentist in Brampton, Dental offices, Teeth Grinding Solutions, Dental Info, Dental Facts, Stress Solutions,Teeth grinding can be caused not just by stress and anxiety but by sleep disorders, an abnormal bite or teeth that are missing or crooked. The symptoms of teeth grinding include:

- dull headaches
- jaw soreness
- teeth that are painful or loose
- fractured teeth

Your dentist can fit you with a night guard to protect your teeth during sleep. If stress is the cause you need to find a way to relax. Meditation, counselling and exercise can all help reduce stress and anxiety.

Teeth grinding is also common in children. However, because their teeth and jaws change and grow so quickly it is not usually a damaging habit that requires treatment and most outgrow it by adolescence.

Although in adults teeth grinding is often the result of stress, the same is not always true with children. Other possible causes of teeth grinding in children include:

- irritation in the mouth
- allergies
- misaligned teeth

If you’re concerned about your child’s teeth grinding, ask your child’s dentist about the potential causes and, if necessary, the possible solutions. (ADA)

Can children be at risk for developing periodontal disease? Brampton Dentist

Periodontal Disease in Kids, Brampton Dentists, Dental offices in Brampton, Top Dentists in Brampton, Gum Disease, Toothbrushing, Flossing, Kids Dentist in Brampton, Brampton Periodontists and implant Specialist,
Periodontal disease is rarely found in children, and only sometimes found in adolescents. However, children should still learn the importance of keeping their teeth and gums healthy to prevent periodontal disease in the future. Children should brush their teeth twice a day and learn how to floss properly- if children learn how to floss at an early age, they will be more likely to make it a lifetime habit. These two simple acts will help protect their teeth and gums from periodontal disease.
As a parent, you should also be aware of the warning signs of periodontal disease, which include red, swollen, bleeding gums or bad breath that won’t go away. If your child develops any of these symptoms, tell your dental professional right away. It’s also a good idea to ensure your dental professional knows your complete family history, as genetics can play an important role in the early development of periodontal disease. (AAP
